Adjusting to a southern Sierra landscape .
Coming from northern California, arriving in LA in 2010 after fires in 2009 and the drought becoming know. I found my self disappointed. Most areas I had seen were black, arid landscape poor water and very crowded on weekend where there was and water. I created many excuses in my life to keep me from the outdoors in my own backyard, work ,small apartment, fire damage, unfamiliarity with the region and the best reason meeting an amazing woman that, and building a life with her! all this combined loss and change meant I had missed some of the greatest beauty right next to me.
Years later that amazing woman is my wife. We have a life together. Im working on myself and our life together. Being in a better place, and feeling grounded.
I found my self on the East Fork of the San Gabriel river. I was overwhelmed with a feeling much like a dream words do not describe properly. The landscape is just different enough from the northern sierras to give me quite a bit of joy and rediscovery.
With less excuses and more time wandering. I feel more centered. I am doing my best. and that’s all I need.
